About Adoption UK

Adoption UK is a registered charity and adoption support agency. Their head office is in Banbury, Oxfordshire; they also have offices in Edinburgh, Belfast and Cardiff. Adoption UK provide information, support and training to adoptive parents (and long-term foster carers) at all stages of their adoption journey, in order to help them meet the emotional and developmental needs of looked-after and adopted children.

They also work with practitioners (social workers, teachers, therapists etc.) who work with looked-after and adopted children to raise awareness of adopted children’s needs and to promote stable and successful adoptive placements – this includes a family-finding service called Children Who Wait (CWW) which links children waiting in the care system with prospective adoptive parents. Over 11,000 members provide a strong, supportive community and the largest voice of adopters in the UK.

Adoption UK also works with policy makers and lobbies on behalf of adopted children and adoptive families – most recently as part of a government advisory group involved in the reforms to the adoption system in England. Adoption UK does not receive government funding and relies on the generosity of our members and supporters.

They chose Salesforce as the platform for this activity. The project covered all their UK offices and over 40 users based in many different teams.

Project Aims

  • To create an organisation-wide database to develop a greater understanding and analysis capabilities of their work
  • Reduce admin time and costs through increased automation of processes (e.g. generation of reports, mailing lists and automatic workflows).
  • Easier to access and report on key information and in real-time
  • To improve the overall service offered to Adoption UK's members

Salesforce was configured and developed for a wide range of needs including Contact and Account Management; Membership: Recording Online shop purchases and managing stock levels; Training; Help desk/ Support; Media case studies; Business development activities; 'Children Who Wait' offering; Lending library and Fundraising.
