The Challenge

Guide Dogs has been using Salesforce since 2015. This project was brought about by the imminently approaching requirement to become compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which takes effect from May 2018. Guide Dogs approached Giveclarity to implement a solution by which Guide Dogs would be able to capture their supporters’ communication consent, and store it all in Salesforce.

Project Aims

  • Deployment of a consent management solution that is compliant to GDPR for identified supporters
  • GDPR Consent Auditing within Salesforce to ICO standards (This project was implemented from August to December 2017, and was therefore done prior to any GDPR guidelines being released by ICO. Giveclarity took the approach of using learnings from other customers in the non-profit sector who have implemented GDPR solutions in Salesforce.)
  • Enable external supporters to update their consent via a web platform (self-service)
  • Consistent clear processes for consent data capture and management
  • Provide a platform for future development to manage and hold supporter relationship information
  • Enabling quality data and process management through reporting

The Solution

Giveclarity delivered a solution which made it possible for the Guide Dogs supporter care team to capture an individual supporter’s communication consent in a simple and easily configurable user interface. The solution also supported the ability for an individual Guide Dogs supporter to maintain their consent settings via an authenticated Guide Dogs’ website, and finally for the ability to import consent data via file imports.

Guide Dogs

“The project went live under budget on the agreed go-live date. The client commented on our collaborative way of working: "The level of collaboration between the internal team and Give Clarity was absolutely brilliant; communication was open and honest and meant that everyone was able to contribute positively and enjoy celebrating delivering a project on time and within budget.”
