Save the Children Thailand

First country to implement Global Shared CRM (RISE): building long-term self-sufficiency for Save the Children Thailand.

About Save the Children Thailand

Save the Children Thailand is part of the world’s leading independent organisation for children, working to ensure every child has the opportunity to survive, learn, and be protected. Established in Thailand in 1979, the organisation partners closely with communities, government bodies, and local organisations to address the most pressing challenges facing children—particularly those who are marginalised, vulnerable, or affected by crisis.

The Challenge

Save the Children Thailand needed to transition from managing fundraising efforts with Microsoft Excel to deploying and using the Global Shared CRM (RISE), while keeping costs low and avoiding bespoke configuration.

Giveclarity worked with Save the Children International (SCI) to develop the Global Shared CRM (RISE) which enabled SCI to:

  • Build internal capability within its shared services team

  • Become fully self-sufficient for future rollouts

  • Ensure alignment with global standards and processes

  • Successfully adopt the package while the global SC RISE core team retained end-to-end ownership of the implementation

Giveclarity was engaged to provide advisory, training, and support, stepping in only where expertise was required, rather than leading or custom-building the solution. After two years of working together, Giveclarity helped Save the Children International build a strong foundation and capability to deliver activities listed to the right:

The Solution

Analysis

  • Helped the Save the Children Thailand team fully understand what was included within the SC RISE: CRM Package

  • Worked collaboratively to adapt existing business processes to the standard package

  • Avoided bespoke configuration, ensuring alignment with global best practice

Testing

  • Re-used existing SC RISE testing scripts and test data

  • Reduced effort, risk, and duplication by leveraging proven materials

Release Management & Enablement

  • Trained SCI team members to become self-sufficient in managing package releases
  • Ensured the team could confidently manage future upgrades and enhancements independently

The Results

With Giveclarity’s support, SCI helped Save the Children Thailand deliver both immediate and long-term benefits:

  • Successful migration from a system of using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to the Global Shared CRM (RISE)
  • First national office to implement the Global Shared CRM (RISE) setting a blueprint for other countries
  • Reduced short-term and long-term costs by eliminating bespoke development and minimising third-party involvement
  • A future-proofed solution, allowing Thailand to automatically benefit from ongoing Global Shared CRM (RISE) enhancements and upgrades
  • Clear roadmap established for future improvements and enhancements
  • By focusing on reuse, enablement, and standardisation, Save the Children Thailand can now roll out future implementations with confidence—without reliance on heavy external support

Key Takeaway:

This project demonstrates how nonprofits can successfully adopt global platforms like SC RISE by prioritising enablement over customisation—delivering cost savings, consistency, and long-term sustainability.
