About Save the Children UK

Save The Children UK (SCUK) help every child get the chance of a future they deserve. Making sure children stay safe, healthy and learning – finding new ways to reach children who need us most, no matter where they’re growing up.

The Challenge

Save The Children UK had been using the CARE NG CRM (CARE) as its fundraising system for almost 25 years. There was no specific guarantee for maintaining the product beyond 2024, after which SCUK faced increased risks including loss of compliance, exposure to data security flaws and software issues effecting business critical capability.

Implementing a new CRM solution and customer data management system integrated with downstream applications – mitigates the risks and enables delivery of their supporter engagement strategy, keeps pace with competitors and brings them into alignment with the wider Save The Children movement internationally.

The decision was taken to replace CARE with Salesforce CRM, working with Giveclarity. The previous system was proving difficult to customise, integrate and entailed many manual processes and duplication of effort:

  • Lack of customisation capabilities in the CARE system.
  • Lack of API-based integrations between CARE and other systems.
  • File imports required extensive manual oversight.
  • Processes were error-prone and complicated de-duplication processes were being run in Microsoft Access.

The Solution

  • Implementation of Salesforce CRM to manage key fundraising activities such as campaigns, regular and one-off giving from both individuals and organisations.
  • Integration with the Azure Data Factory to facilitate data flow in and out of Salesforce CRM.
  • Implementation of FinDock (AppExchange app) for payment processing direct debits, standing orders, recurring credit cards, and gift aid submission.
  • Integration with Evergiving which handles new recurring donation sign-ups from Face-to-Face agencies and changes made by telemarketing agencies.
  • Implementation of Clarity Data Transform (Giveclarity’s AppExchange app) to process file imports and website transactions ie. for 60 different file formats, including JustGiving, Evergiving, SMS giving, and Engaging Networks).
  • Supporter Care: Email-to-Case, email templates, case queues, service console.
  • Integration with Adobe Campaign Manager to send updates on marketing campaign data as well as manage donor consents with Giveclarity’s consent management solution.
  • Integration with FirstClass system to enable the management of legacy donations.
  • Integration with a proprietary app that will allow data from scanning physical forms to be imported into Salesforce and processed with Clarity Data Transform.
  • A new suppression solution built to work alongside our consent management solution.
  • Significant volume of data migrated from CARE to Salesforce.
  • Planning and delivery of training to SCUK SME’s and Core Team members.

The Results:

  • Over 66 million records migrated from CARE including 16 million Opportunities.
  • 300 members of staff trained and ready to go!
  • Hours of time saved though less manual processes.

CRM Programme Team

A quick word for the whole team at Giveclarity. In any large transformation programme there are bound to be ups and downs. However to see this piece of work through from beginning to end is a massive achievement and the team have been great to work with. Thank you!
